Concrete Items

When you think about a substance that is durable, strong, heavy, and will be around for all time, what comes to mind?

Stone, concrete, even both? Rock was here before us, and I am willing to bet it outlasts us.

Now what if I told you theres a company thats been around a long time, and that they made products for your use, from concrete? There is, and they do.

You can order things like a precast concrete planter or a bench, or a table set. There is a good list of products. What I enjoy is knowing I can put something out in the yard that no one can walk off with, and something no one can damage. I place it where i want it and there it is, for me to enjoy.

These concrete items are made of super strong 5000 PSI reinforced concrete. They are sealed with acrylic sealers for added protection from the elements.

Sutherland in Trouble

I always wonder what cops think when they pull over or arrest some big name celebrity. Is it awe? Or is it disgust? I mean if I were a rich celebrity I wouldn’t do things dumb like DUI,um you can so afford a cab, or a driver.

Good ol Keifer Sutherland is looking at jail time. He is currently on probation from a 2004 incident. If hes convicted of his latest DUI he w ould be found in violation of his probation.

Sutherland is 40 years old. He recently won an Emmy for playing a counter-terrorism agent in the  hit show 24.

He was pulled over this week after making an illegal turn. Tests show that his alcohol level was beyond the legal limit.

His arraignment is scheduled for the 16 of October.

Smorty

I love blogging, its what I do. It is not just a hobby, it has become an obsession. I think about what I will write when I am not writing.

Blogging is not a new hobby, it has been around since 1994, but back then it was more like an online diary. That morphed into what is now called blogging, from the word, weblog.

The phenomenon is just picking up steam in the last few years, and many in the blogging community are also professionals, who share good and valid input. This kind of expertise lend credibility to the scene.

Blogs are called differently depending on the media they are posted on or from. A blog of videos is called a vlog. A blog full of links is referred to as a linkog, and with sketches its a sketchlog, and of course one made of photos is a photoblog. Blogs with posts that are shorter, and with lots of mixed up media are referred to as tumblelogs. An Artlog is a bit different, it relies more on art, over text, but is published in a blog format. A very rare type of blog is called a Phlog and is hoster on the Gopher protocol.

So I decided i wanted to get paid for blogging. I went and checked out a firm named Smorty. They get advertisement orders from business, and then notify you when they have a new campaign. You just login to your smorty account and accept the offer, write a post and get paid, its ridiculously simple. The offers have been many and its allowed me to make quite of bit of extra cash doing something I love.

I recommend this to anyone who wants to get paid for blogging.

Currier Wins on Appeal

An appeals judge in Massachusetts  has decided that a med student at havard should get more time  for breaks during  a clinical exam to pump breast milk.

Sophie Currier has said she needs an additional hour of breaks during the 2 day test. The judge agreed that the given 45 minutes was not enough for her.

The judge said the limited break forced a hard choice on the student. She could skip things liek using the restroom, and cause heself discomfort by not taking care of things like urination, or manage her body functions and not pump her breasts causing herself pain.

Either decision would put her at a disadvantage.
The school plans to appeal.

Leads

For any sales based enterprise the single biggest challenge is people who want to buy the product. Often this is because they may be unaware the product exists. Companies often can not pay large sums of money into advertisement and still keep their quality product available for a low price. Sales Lead Generation is the number one task in these organizations. The internet has made it simpler to contact the masses of people but even so you must stand out to your prospective clients due to the sheer number of sales professions trying to drum up people ’s attention.

Hospital Falls

A lot of attention has been given recently — and properly — to the fact many terrible infections are received in hospitals. This is preventable  and should be be occurring.  Theres another source of injury patients are receiving in hospitals as well. Falls. Results from a fall can be very major. People in hospitals are already in poor condition. If a patient is at risk to falls it should be fully the hospitals burden to prevent  that.

Available precautions take severla forms, acompanying patients, using special chairs for the elderly, making sure they are stable in the restroom, answering the nurse button in a speedy manner,  and using restraints appropriately.  Falls can break bones, lead to head and brain injury , and in my opinion allowing people to get hurt in a place of healing is not right at all.

The Lampshade

My brother cleaned out the garage today, it really truly needed it. We found all kinds of stuff, including a riding lawnmower and a brand new in box chainsaw. Theres alot of space now, in fact, there’s 6 people out in the garage around a poker table playing cards. At one point Matt uncovered an old lampshade of mom’s. I dont know if its any good now, might have to be replaced. It was fun to go through all that stuff. I found some old stuff I hadn’t seen in twelve years.

The good news is theres room in the garage again, at least for the time being.

Mandela Still Alive, Someone Inform the President

Nelson Mandela is alive even if George Bush is completely unaware of this fact. Bush is ever the embarrassment of America.

Unfortunately Bush gets worldwide coverage every time he speaks, and most times, he makes a fool of us all.

Officials in South Africa are currently reassuring their citizens that Nelson is alive and that Bush is a moron.

Mandela was imprisoned for 27 years for fighting against the racist white government and apartheid. In 1994 he  became the nation’s first back president. Mandela received the Nobel peace prize for his efforts. He is 89 years old.

Time Tracking

They say time is money, and as a enterprise owner, you answer to the investors, or your own bottom line. If indeed time is money, how can we make more time, and in doing so make more money?

The answer is to use time tracking software. Turn your computer into an employee time tracker. Know who is doing what and for how long so you can adjust positions to best afford you the most strategic placement of employees. It can be run over the net, through a web interface or downloaded to your machine for free.

Ebay Addiction Blamed on Boss

A union official representing 9 nonproductive people fired for being addicted to ebay points his finger at the company boss and says its your fault for letting them have access to the internet.

No, I am not joking.

They are claiming that if the IT department had blocked ebay from their computers using firewall software that they then would not be able to surf to ebay or look at porn during work hours.

Yes, somehow the company is at fault.. They should have babysat the people they pay to come to work.

Thats ridiculous!

Employees were spending up to 2 hours a day on ebay, according to the company’s records.
